The conference closes the Technological Conference of the San Valero Group

The technological days of the San Valero Group have focused today on the “Cybersecurity in a world of bad guys and good guys”, the second, and last, session of this cycle has allowed us to keep in mind the threat to which companies and individuals are subjected, something to be prepared for and in this awareness plays a fundamental trick. The attendees were welcomed by Raúl Millán Labarta, director of the San Valero Group’s Business Area, and Laura Martínez Bergua, director of Vodafone’s Private Sector in Aragón.

We were able to listen to a speech by Ricardo Hernández, specialist in Security Solutions at Vodafone, who pointed out that “cybercrimes have a close relationship with money, becoming today the most lucrative business of this century”. He has gone through different examples illustrating techniques such as phishing, ransomware, or smishing, among others. It is essential, therefore, to exercise caution and develop contingency plans at all levels, he concluded.

In the subsequent round table, the speakers have contributed a series of considerations, each one from their experiences and professional trajectories. Julio Martín, Director of Cybersecurity of Grupo Sesé, has emphasized that awareness is very necessary and that it has to start from oneself, from home on the computer to in the workplace”. An attitude of prevention and anticipation is very useful to generate a safer environment.

María del Mar López, senior manager of Accenture Security, has referred to the awareness of companies and individuals as a starting point. “The state is also concerned with protection and the increase in professions focused on this area is relevant.” He has pointed out the creation of new university degrees and vocational training cycles oriented to this subject, such as those that have been implemented in the San Valero Group centres.

José Luis Doñoro, Director of the Connectivity and Cybersecurity area of ​​Siemens, has pointed out that “there are essential services such as supplies or infrastructures and their systems that have to be protected”, and it is not easy, likewise computer attacks represent real cases of those that have been cited examples.

Eduardo Gistau, Director of Cybersecurity at Maz, highlights that “the war against cybercrime is asymmetric, the enemy moves with impunity and with more resources, and despite this, one of the applicable defense mechanisms is the automation of the response.”

The day closed with a round of questions and answers in which the attending public was able to comment and ask the speakers about aspects and doubts about this topic of special interest, both at a private and company level.

These Conference on Technological Trends in the 21st Century Society are an initiative of the San Valero Group, in collaboration with Vodafone, CEOE Aragón and Multilevel Hybrid Learning.
