THE METAVERSE IS NOT DISCOVERED, IT IS CREATED IN A COMMUNITY

Leading companies share their experiences at the San Valero Group conference

The technology day “Metaverse: reality or fantasy?”, held today at the San Valero Building, has allowed us to learn more about this parallel world, what it is and what is real, and about the practical sense through the experiences told by experts from major companies that have explained their reality, virtual in this case.

The first to speak was Jorge Pablo Cervera, innovation manager for education and healthcare at Vodafone. In his explanation, he referred to the metaverse in four aspects: experimentation due to the human desire to interact, social because they are real communities, identity because it is an individual feeling and property because of the tendency of people to own things.

The form of access depends on the inverse of the experience, being able to be a virtual reality (100%), mixed reality (50%) or augmented reality (10%) and logically always through devices connected to the internet. As a reflection, he defines the metaverse as “a universe that is not discovered, it is created through a community”.

This was followed by a round table moderated by Carlos Cetina, principal investigator of the SVIT group at San Jorge University. In it we have been able to see “case studies” and real experiences.

Iñigo Gainza Thalamas, metaverse services lead Iberia at Accenture, considers that there is a great deal of smoke in this initial phase we are in and “companies are joining the bandwagon by virtualizing processes”.

Pedro Pardo, manager of the Entrepreneurship Unit of the Instituto Aragonés de Fomento, said that it is a problem of time “we have to land this new reality and expectations may be overestimated”.

Sergio Tello, territorial director of automation and digitalization of Siemens, reflected on the etymology of the word metaverse, meta beyond and verse in reference to the universe, indicating that the first stones are being laid. In reference to the digital twin, he pointed out that “it allows analysis and monitoring in environments, bringing benefits in the real world”.

The session ended with an interesting question and answer session with the participation of the audience.

The next meeting of this conference will be on Thursday, September 29, at 6 p.m. in the same place, and will be entitled “Cybersecurity: The value of your data”.
